Known by many names across cultures — Ares to the Greeks, Mars to the Romans, and through countless interpretations in games, books, and stories — he represents conflict, fury, and the primal instinct to dominate. Though we may believe such gods have long faded into legend, a glance at the world today suggests otherwise.

We live in a time of unmatched progress, yet the cries of war still echo through cities, screens, and hearts. From political unrest to community divisions, from online hostility to real-world violence, the world seems constantly teetering on the edge of conflict. It is as if the God of War himself walks among us, not with sword and shield, but with whispers — subtle provocations, nudging humanity toward hate instead of love.

These whispers aren’t always loud. They are disguised as pride, fear, misinformation, or self-interest. They tell us to trust less, argue more, and believe the worst in others. They lure us into believing that violence, whether physical or verbal, is a form of strength. And too often, we listen.

Davao City – From April 21 to 27, Gaisano Mall of Davao in Bajada has transformed into a vibrant time capsule, drawing toy enthusiasts, collectors, and curious families to celebrate the beloved world of toys at Mindanao Toy X 2025.

More than just an exhibit, Mindanao Toy X 2025 is a journey through decades of imagination and creativity. Visitors are greeted by a stunning variety of toys that stir up deep nostalgia—each display a spark of childhood joy reborn. From the iconic elegance of Barbie dolls dressed in vintage fashion, to the fierce detail of Gundam model kits, and the expressive charm of anime figures, the event captures the hearts of multiple generations.

The display doesn’t stop at the classics. Collectors proudly showcased the latest wave of Pop Mart figures, their quirky designs adding a modern twist to the nostalgic atmosphere. Meanwhile, the hum of excitement continued over at the Tamiya race car display—classic 4WDs zipping down on the shelves, reigniting the thrill of schoolyard races from the '90s.

Carefully crafted die-cast car dioramas offered a miniature world of wonder, where tiny Lamborghinis and vintage Mustangs rolled across tiny streets and gas stations. Nearby cabs, Star Wars figures stood tall with their lightsabers and blasters, surrounded by legions of clones, droids, and rebels—reminding fans of galaxy-wide adventures that defined their youth.

Towering Mech robots and detailed action figures brought a heroic tone to the display halls, blending nostalgia with the current wave of cinematic superhero passion. Fans young and old found something to marvel at—literally.

But Mindanao Toy X 2025 isn’t just about seeing—it’s about experiencing. The event features bazaar booths teeming with rare finds, fan merch, and collectibles waiting to find new homes. Toy sellers from all over the region brought their best, creating a treasure trove of toys that span decades and genres.

Whether you’re a diehard collector, a casual fan, or a parent showing your child the toys of your time, Mindanao Toy X 2025 is a heartwarming reminder that toys aren’t just playthings—they’re time machines.

So if you’re in Davao, don’t miss this once-a-year celebration of creativity, memory, and play. Revisit your childhood. Reignite your imagination. And remember—some toys never go out of style.

My visit on the third day of Mindanao Toy X 2025 was nothing short of spectacular, and at the center of the anime universe on the show floor was RK Collectibles Davao. With a stunning showcase of fan-favorite franchises including Pokémon, Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, and a jaw-dropping tribute to Slam Dunk, their display was a magnet for collectors, photographers, and every anime heart in attendance.

The Pokémon display instantly transported visitors into a world of nostalgia and wonder. With iconic figures like Pikachu, Charizard, and an adorable full Eeveelution lineup, fans couldn’t help but snap photos and gush over the rare imported plushies and collector’s items sourced straight from Japan.

Just a few steps over, the Dragon Ball Z zone exploded with energy — literally. Goku, Vegeta, Broly, and more were featured in mid-battle stances, surrounded by diorama effects and light-up auras. Every piece was dynamic and true to form, bringing the series’ explosive power to life in figure form.

In true pirate spirit, One Piece lovers were treated to a grand display of the Straw Hat Pirates aboard the Thousand Sunny. From Luffy’s carefree grin to Zoro’s fierce stance, RK Collectibles’ attention to detail gave fans an up-close look at their favorite characters in full action-ready glory.

But for fans of classic anime — especially those with a soft spot for 90s nostalgia — Slam Dunk was the true crown jewel. Proudly displayed was one of the most-talked-about pieces of the event: the ₱63,000 Shohoku High Team Diorama, a collector’s dream and a tribute to one of the most iconic sports anime of all time. The figures of Hanamichi Sakuragi, Kaede Rukawa, Takenori Akagi, in a Courtside Bench Themed Display and the rest of the team were displayed in perfect game-day form, capturing the grit, energy, and heart of Slam Dunk in a way that made longtime fans stop, stare, and smile.

Different Collectors from Davao didn’t just set up a booth — they created a space that celebrated the anime stories we grew up with and continue to love. It was a powerful reminder of how anime connects generations, ignites passions, and turns collectible figures into timeless memories.

As I pack up my camera, notes, and wide-eyed wonder, I’m filled with nothing but gratitude and joy. Mindanao Toy X 2025 wasn’t just an event—it is a week-long celebration of the stories, passions, and childhood dreams that connect us all.
